MDU Resources Group, Inc. operates as a natural
resource company in the United States, with six operating
segments: Electric, Natural Gas Distribution (NGD), Construction
Services, Pipeline and Energy Services (PES), Natural Gas and
Oil Production (NGOP), and Construction Materials and Mining (CMM).
The Electric segment generates, transmits, and distributes
electricity in Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Wyoming.
The NGD segment distributes natural gas in western Minnesota and
southeastern North Dakota. The Construction Services segment
engages in electrical and pipeline construction, inside
electrical wiring and cabling, and the manufacture and
distribution of specialty equipments for utilities and
manufacturing, commercial, government, and institutional
customers.
The PES segment provides natural gas transportation, underground
storage, and gathering services through pipeline systems
primarily in the Rocky Mountain and northern Great Plains
regions.
The NGOP segment engages in the acquisition, exploration,
development, and production of natural gas and oil resources in
the Rocky Mountain region and the Gulf of Mexico.
The CMM segment mines aggregates and markets crushed stone,
sand, gravel, and related construction materials, including
ready-mixed concrete, cement, liquid asphalt, and other products
in the central and western United States and in the states of
Alaska and Hawaii.
