The proper equipment, that is properly sized, and properly balanced (ratio of airmovers and NAM's or air-scrubbers to dehumidifiers) is crucial in the structural drying business.

Dehumidifiers are available in refrigerant or desiccant as highlighted in Section 7.38. The sizing of a refrigerant dehumidifier is based on the number of grains (gpp) it can draw from the air in a 24-hour period, as illustrated in Table 7-G and Table 7-I ,and desiccant dehumidifiers are sized using CFM.

Before the size, quantity and type of dehumidifier is selected, the water loss site should classified using the IICRC Drying Classification as shown in Section 7.42, while infiltration and permeance play a pivotal roll in the drying process through equipment sizing and quantity of equipment used.
